Rifleman Aurangzeb was a brave soldier of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI), serving with the 44 Rashtriya Rifles in the Kashmir Valley. Born in Salani village of Poonch district, Jammu & Kashmir, he grew up with a deep sense of patriotism and a strong desire to serve the nation. His courage, discipline, and unwavering dedication to duty earned him the respect of both his comrades and superiors.

During his tenure with 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Rifleman Aurangzeb actively participated in numerous counter-terrorism operations across the Kashmir Valley. He was known for his professionalism, fearlessness, and commitment to protecting innocent lives while combating terrorism in one of the country's most challenging operational environments.

On 14 June 2018, while travelling home on leave to celebrate Eid with his family, Rifleman Aurangzeb was abducted by terrorists in the Pulwama district. Despite being unarmed and away from active military duty, he displayed remarkable courage in the face of extreme adversity. The following day, his body was recovered, bearing testimony to the brutality of the terrorists.

His sacrifice deeply moved the nation and became a powerful reminder of the immense risks faced by India's soldiers, both on and off duty. Rifleman Aurangzeb's steadfast commitment to the nation and his fearless spirit continue to inspire countless young Indians to serve with honour and courage.

In recognition of his exceptional devotion to duty and supreme sacrifice, Rifleman Aurangzeb was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal. His gallantry and patriotism remain an enduring symbol of the courage displayed by the men and women of the Indian Armed Forces.
