Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ayoub Pandith was one of the most respected officers of the Jammu & Kashmir Police, remembered for his professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment to maintaining peace in the Kashmir Valley. Throughout his distinguished career, he served with courage and dedication, earning the respect of both his colleagues and the people he protected.

With more than two decades of service in the Jammu & Kashmir Police, DySP Pandith held several important assignments involving law and order, security, and public safety. Known for his calm temperament and disciplined approach, he carried out every responsibility with sincerity and a deep sense of duty.

On the night of 22 June 2017, during the holy occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, DySP Mohammad Ayoub Pandith was deployed on security duty outside Jamia Masjid, Nowhatta, Srinagar, where thousands of worshippers had gathered. He was part of the security arrangement to ensure the event concluded peacefully and without incident.

While performing his duty, he was attacked by a violent mob outside the mosque. Despite being vastly outnumbered, he attempted to protect himself and carry out his responsibilities under extremely difficult circumstances. In the tragic incident that followed, he was fatally assaulted and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

His death shocked the entire nation and highlighted the immense risks faced by police personnel while safeguarding public order under challenging conditions. DySP Mohammad Ayoub Pandith became a symbol of courage, dedication, and sacrifice, demonstrating that the duty of a police officer often demands extraordinary bravery even in the absence of conventional battlefield conditions.
