Havildar Kashiray Bammanalli was a courageous soldier of the Indian Army whose life was dedicated to discipline, patriotism, and selfless service. Born in Ukkal village of Vijayapura district, Karnataka, he joined the Indian Army in 2006 with a deep commitment to defending the nation. Throughout his years in uniform, he earned the admiration of his fellow soldiers for his professionalism, determination, and fearless approach to duty.
Serving in Jammu & Kashmir, Havildar Kashiray Bammanalli took part in numerous counter-terrorism operations in challenging conditions. His unwavering courage and leadership made him a dependable member of every mission entrusted to him.
On 2 July 2021, security forces launched Operation Hanjan in the Hanjan area of Pulwama district after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists. As the search operation progressed, the team came under heavy and indiscriminate terrorist fire. Havildar Kashiray Bammanalli immediately returned effective fire, displaying exceptional courage while protecting his comrades. During the fierce encounter, he sustained a critical gunshot wound to the chest. Despite prompt evacuation and the best medical efforts, he made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The operation resulted in the elimination of multiple terrorists.
Havildar Kashiray Bammanalli's courage, devotion to duty, and willingness to place the nation above his own life reflected the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
