Sepoy Karn Veer Singh was a fearless soldier of the Rajput Regiment, serving with the 44 Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu & Kashmir. Born in Daldal village of Satna district, Madhya Pradesh, he belonged to a family with a proud military tradition. Inspired by a deep sense of patriotism and service, he joined the Indian Army in 2017 and soon earned the respect of his comrades through his courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to duty.
After joining 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Sepoy Karn Veer Singh actively participated in counter-terrorism operations across the Kashmir Valley. Known for his determination and fearless spirit, he always led from the front, displaying exceptional professionalism in some of the most challenging operational conditions.
On 20 October 2021, security forces received intelligence regarding the movement of terrorists in Shopian district. An operation was launched to intercept the terrorists before they could escape. Serving as the scout of the assault team, Sepoy Karn Veer Singh demonstrated remarkable alertness and courage when the terrorists attempted to flee through a nearby stream.
Without hesitation, he pursued the fleeing terrorists despite coming under heavy gunfire and grenade attacks. Even after sustaining serious injuries, he refused to retreat. Displaying extraordinary bravery and determination, he continued advancing towards the terrorists, engaging them at close range and preventing their escape. His fearless actions played a decisive role in the success of the operation before he ultimately made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
For his exceptional gallantry, indomitable courage, and unwavering devotion to the nation, Sepoy Karn Veer Singh was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra, one of India's highest peacetime gallantry awards. His heroism stands as a shining example of the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
