An Assam Rifles patrol team came under attack along the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district early Tuesday morning, resulting in the martyrdom of an Assam Rifles personnel.
The incident took place at around 6:30 am near Nampong Nallah under Nampong Circle, while the patrol team was operating near an area where fencing work is underway along the international border.
The martyred personnel has been identified as Havildar Jankhokai Kuki, 42.
Attack Near Border Fencing Area
According to preliminary information, the attack is suspected to have been carried out by NSCN-K-YA (Yung Aung faction).
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation as security agencies work to establish the sequence of events.
The incident occurred in a sensitive stretch of the India-Myanmar border, where security forces maintain vigilance along the frontier.
Operations Launched
Following the attack, security forces launched operations in the area to track down those responsible and secure the border region.
