As a senior non-commissioned officer from Kulgam, Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Gani Dar led his personnel by example. He made the supreme sacrifice in 2006, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and selfless service to the nation.
Abdul Gani Dar was serving with District Police Budgam and was on special Secretariat duty in Srinagar when he came under terrorist attack on 27 September 2006.
He was shot at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar and sustained a serious bullet injury. He was subsequently taken to hospital, where he made the supreme sacrifice.
His martyrdom remains part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police record of sacrifice in the line of duty.
