Assistant Sub-Inspector Naresh Umrao Badole of the Central Reserve Police Force was serving with 117 Battalion in Jammu and Kashmir in September 2020.
On 24 September 2020, troops of 117 Battalion were providing round-the-clock security to the funnel area of Srinagar Airport. Assistant Sub-Inspector Naresh Umrao Badole was leading his section when terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the CRPF personnel.
Leading His Section Under Fire
The troops immediately retaliated with targeted and overwhelming fire, forcing the terrorists to flee from the area.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Naresh Umrao Badole sustained grievous bullet injuries during the exchange. He was evacuated to the Army Base Hospital for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries and made the supreme sacrifice on 24 September 2020.
His service and sacrifice remain a part of the proud history of the Central Reserve Police Force.
