Assistant Sub-Inspector Rattan Singh was serving with the Jammu and Kashmir Police when terrorists launched an attack on Hiranagar Police Station in Kathua district on 26 September 2013.
The terrorists attacked the police station in the early hours of the morning, opening fire on the police personnel and attempting to storm the complex.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Rattan Singh was among the police personnel who confronted the attackers during the assault.
He made the supreme sacrifice while defending the police station and carrying out his duty in the face of the terrorist attack.
His martyrdom formed part of the sacrifice made by the J&K Police personnel who resisted the attack and prevented the terrorists from causing further harm at the police station.
