Brigadier Sarvjit Singh Ratra
Major Sarvjit Singh Ratra of the Regiment of Artillery displayed exceptional courage during the Indo-Pak War of 1965. Serving in the rank of Major at the time, he demonstrated leadership and determination in the face of enemy opposition.
For his gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations, Major Sarvjit Singh Ratra was awarded the Vir Chakra.
The Act of Valour
The award citation recognises Major Sarvjit Singh Ratra for his courage and leadership during the 1965 operations. He was subsequently promoted to the rank of Brigadier in the Indian Army.
