The Final Operation
On 20 September 2003, extremists opened fire on the troops of 132 Battalion while they were carrying out area domination duty at Sugnu Market.
During the attack, Constable Deep Singh Rajput retaliated and fought bravely with the attackers. He fought from the front during the fierce encounter and sustained injuries.
He continued to engage the attackers despite his injuries before eventually succumbing to them.
The Supreme Sacrifice
Constable Deep Singh Rajput succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom on 20 September 2003.
According to the CRPF record, wireless intercepts indicated that three extremists were killed in the gunfight.
He was born on 12 June 1979 and hailed from Madhya Pradesh.
His courage and sacrifice will always be remembered.
