THE HONOUR POST
Constable Dilip Khangia of 133 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, was serving in Manipur during a period of intense insurgent activity.
On 24 September 1997, personnel of 133 Battalion were returning from an operation in Imphal when insurgents launched an ambush on the returning force and opened indiscriminate fire.
Facing the Ambush in Manipur
The troops immediately responded to the attack and took positions to return fire. A fierce exchange followed as the CRPF personnel fought to overcome the ambush.
Constable Dilip Khangia was among the CRPF personnel who made the supreme sacrifice during the encounter on 24 September 1997.
His service and sacrifice remain a part of the proud history of the Central Reserve Police Force.
