THE HONOUR POST
Constable Mohammad Latif of 133 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, was serving in Manipur during a period of intense insurgent activity.
On 24 September 1997, CRPF personnel of 133 Battalion were returning from an operation in Imphal when insurgents ambushed the force and opened indiscriminate fire.
Facing the Ambush in Manipur
The troops immediately took positions and retaliated against the attackers. A fierce exchange of fire followed as the personnel attempted to overcome the ambush.
Constable Mohammad Latif was among the CRPF personnel who made the supreme sacrifice during the encounter on 24 September 1997.
His service and sacrifice remain a part of the proud history of the Central Reserve Police Force.
