Constable Praveen Kumar of the 207 CoBRA Battalion, CRPF, made the supreme sacrifice while fighting Maoists in Jharkhand on 27 September 2011.

The 207 CoBRA Battalion launched an operation against Maoists at village Aman under Mahuatand Police Station in Bokaro district.

The Maoists opened heavy fire supported by grenade attacks. The troops retaliated and moved forward, resulting in a fierce close-range gunfight.

During the counter-attack, Constable Praveen Kumar and Constable Ram Singh Slathia sustained severe injuries. Despite their wounds, both continued the assault and fought from the front.

Both personnel made the supreme sacrifice during the engagement and were subsequently awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry posthumously.

Constable Praveen Kumar's courage and sacrifice remain part of the proud record of the 207 CoBRA Battalion, CRPF.
