Constable Ram Singh Slathia of the 207 CoBRA Battalion, CRPF, made the supreme sacrifice while fighting Maoists during an operation in Jharkhand on 27 September 2011.

The 207 CoBRA Battalion launched an operation against Maoists at village Aman under Mahuatand Police Station in Bokaro district.

The Maoists opened heavy fire and used grenades against the advancing troops. The CRPF personnel retaliated and moved forward in a fierce close-range engagement.

During the counter-attack, Constable Ram Singh Slathia and Constable Praveen Kumar sustained severe injuries. Despite being wounded, both continued the assault and remained engaged in the fight.

Both personnel made the supreme sacrifice during the operation and were awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry posthumously.

Constable Ram Singh Slathia's sacrifice remains part of the record of courage and service of the 207 CoBRA Battalion, CRPF.
