THE HONOUR POST

Constable Rattan Lal Meena of 30 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, made the supreme sacrifice on 20 September 2002 during mobile patrolling and area domination in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir.

Service and Duty

Constable Rattan Lal Meena served with 30 Battalion CRPF, deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. On 20 September 2002, troops of the battalion were carrying out mobile patrolling and area domination in Shopian, then recorded in the official CRPF account as Sopian, Pulwama district.

The Final Operation

During the mobile patrol, terrorists targeted the troops by triggering a remotely operated improvised explosive device from a distance.

The troops pursued the attackers, but they managed to escape through the surrounding habitation and a number of narrow lanes.

In the blast, Constable Rattan Lal Meena sustained severe injuries. He was evacuated to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The Supreme Sacrifice

Despite efforts to save his life, Constable Rattan Lal Meena succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom on 20 September 2002.

He was born on 1 August 1973 and hailed from Udaipur district, Rajasthan, according to the official CRPF record.

His courage and sacrifice will always be remembered.
