On 28 September 2022, personnel of the 196 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force were conducting area domination along the Chintavagu River near Dharmaram village in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
During the operation, an improvised explosive device blast occurred. Constable Satpal sustained serious injuries in the blast.
He was evacuated to Bijapur for medical treatment. Despite medical efforts, Satpal succumbed to his injuries and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
His sacrifice remains a part of the history of the Central Reserve Police Force's operations in Chhattisgarh.
