Veer Balidani Head Constable Uday Narayan Gond of 206 CoBRA Battalion made the supreme sacrifice on 21 September 2016 after sustaining grievous injuries during an anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh.
The Supreme Sacrifice in Chhattisgarh
On 16 September 2016, troops of 206 CoBRA launched an anti-Maoist operation in the jungle area near village Chintagufa in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh.
While the troops were moving tactically along the planned route, they came under fire from Maoists positioned in well-entrenched positions. A series of IEDs were also triggered simultaneously.
The troops retaliated and thwarted the ambush. During the operation, Head Constable Uday Narayan Gond was grievously injured and evacuated to Ramakrishna Hospital, Raipur, for treatment.
Despite receiving the best possible treatment, he succumbed to his injuries and made the supreme sacrifice on 21 September 2016.
