THE HONOUR POST

Constable/Bugler Imtiyaz Ahmed of the 82nd Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, made the supreme sacrifice in Jammu and Kashmir on 20 September 2000 while performing area domination duty.

Born on 1 July 1976, Imtiyaz Ahmed hailed from Umarganj village, Post Office Behri, in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. He served in the CRPF at a time when its personnel were deployed in Jammu and Kashmir to counter terrorist activities and protect the people and areas under their responsibility.

The Final Sacrifice

On 18 September 2000, Constable/Bugler Imtiyaz Ahmed was deployed on an area domination patrol in Jammu and Kashmir when the troops came under automatic fire from terrorists.

Ahmed immediately retaliated. His determined response forced the terrorists to retreat. During the engagement, the terrorists hurled grenades at the troops, and he sustained splinter injuries.

Despite the danger, he stood his ground and continued to face the attack. He later succumbed to the injuries sustained in the grenade attack.

Constable/Bugler Imtiyaz Ahmed was 24 years old when he made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

His courage during the encounter became an example of the bravery and dedication expected of those who serve in the Central Reserve Police Force.

He left behind a record of duty fulfilled under fire, and a sacrifice that continues to form part of the CRPF's history.
