DG BSF Praveen Kumar Reviews Operational Preparedness and Border Management in Meghalaya

Director General, Border Security Force, Shri Praveen Kumar, IPS, visited the Meghalaya Frontier on 10 and 11 September 2026 and reviewed the operational preparedness, border domination and border management measures along the International Border.

During the visit, the DG BSF chaired a Commanders’ Conference with Deputy Inspectors General and Commandants in the presence of the Inspector General, Meghalaya Frontier. The conference focused on surveillance, security measures and operational readiness along the International Border. Shri Praveen Kumar emphasised the importance of maintaining sustained vigilance and ensuring effective border management.

The DG BSF also visited the forward areas of Jowai Sector, where field commanders briefed him on the prevailing security situation and the arrangements in place for border management and domination.

Interaction with BSF Personnel

During the Prahari Sammelan, the DG BSF interacted with troops deployed along the frontier and appreciated their dedication and commitment to safeguarding the International Border. He particularly acknowledged the challenges faced by personnel while performing their duties in adverse weather conditions and difficult geographical terrain.

Addressing the troops, Shri Praveen Kumar exhorted all ranks to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, alertness and devotion to duty. He also reiterated the commitment of the BSF and the Government towards the welfare and well-being of its personnel and apprised the troops of various ongoing welfare initiatives.

As part of the visit, the DG BSF called on the Honourable Governor of Meghalaya and briefed him on the measures being undertaken by the BSF in Meghalaya for effective border domination and robust border management.

He also met the Director General of Police, Meghalaya, and held discussions on strengthening inter-agency coordination and synergy between the BSF and Meghalaya Police. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation for effective border domination and strengthening the overall border management framework.

The visit highlighted the BSF's continued focus on operational preparedness, sustained vigilance, inter-agency coordination and the welfare of its personnel serving along the International Border.
