A CRPF radio operator who made the supreme sacrifice after sustaining severe injuries during a patrol attack in Assam

On 28 September 1998, a mobile patrol of the 54 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force came under heavy fire from insurgents while passing through a dense jungle near Guwahati, Assam.
Head Constable and Radio Operator A. Ishwaran was among the personnel positioned at the front who sustained severe injuries during the encounter.
Despite sustaining injuries, the personnel continued to fight and kept firing as the troops retaliated and forced the attackers to flee. A. Ishwaran later succumbed to his injuries and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
His service and sacrifice remain a part of the proud history of the Central Reserve Police Force.
