Srinagar, September 10: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar (IPS), visited Kulgam and Shopian on Thursday to review the security situation, counter-terrorism grid, crime scenario and law-and-order situation in the two South Kashmir districts.

DIG South Kashmir Range Javed Iqbal Mattoo (IPS) accompanied the IGP during the visit.

In both districts, IGP Kashmir chaired security and crime review meetings attended by the respective SSPs, senior police officers and jurisdictional officers. Detailed briefings were presented on the prevailing security situation, anti-terror operations, counter-insurgency grids, crime prevention strategies and measures for maintaining public order.

Reviewing operational preparedness, Sujit Kumar stressed the importance of robust intelligence generation, close inter-agency coordination and a swift and decisive response to emerging challenges. He directed field formations to maintain sustained pressure on the terror ecosystem and maintain zero tolerance towards elements inimical to peace.

During the tour, IGP Kashmir also inspected Sub-Division D.H. Pora in Kulgam, where he interacted with supervisory officers, SHOs and jawans of the Special Operations Group (SOG).
