Veer Balidani Inspector Kishan Singh of 9 BN CRPF made the supreme sacrifice on 21 September 2002 during patrolling and area domination duties in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Supreme Sacrifice at Mirhama
On 21 September 2002, troops of 9 BN CRPF were carrying out patrolling and area domination in the general area under Kulgam Police Station in Anantnag district.
When the troops were near Mirhama village, Maoists targeted the patrol by detonating a remotely operated IED from a distance. The troops pursued the attackers, who fled through the congested habitation of the village and a nearby jungle.
Inspector Kishan Singh sustained severe injuries in the IED blast. Despite his injuries, he led his troops during the chase and was subsequently evacuated to the nearest hospital.
He succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom in the line of duty on 21 September 2002.
