A CRPF soldier who made the supreme sacrifice after fighting despite severe injuries during a patrol attack in Assam

On 28 September 1998, a mobile patrol of the 54 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force was attacked by insurgents near Guwahati in Assam.
The attackers opened heavy fire on the patrol as it passed through a dense jungle. The troops immediately retaliated and forced the attackers to flee.
Head Constable Dariyaon Singh was among the personnel at the front who sustained severe injuries during the encounter. Despite his wounds, he continued to fight and kept firing.
He later succumbed to his injuries and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
His courage and devotion to duty remain remembered in the history of the Central Reserve Police Force.
