Naib Subedar Krishan Chand served with 5 JAK Rifles during the Indo-Pak War of 1965. As a Junior Commissioned Officer of the battalion, he served alongside his men through some of the most intense fighting of the campaign in the Sialkot sector.
5 JAK Rifles took part in the Indian advance towards Sialkot and later fought in the difficult operations around Chawinda. The battalion faced determined enemy resistance, heavy artillery fire and armoured opposition during the fighting.
Through these operations, Naib Subedar Krishan Chand remained with his battalion as it continued to carry out its duties under extremely difficult battlefield conditions.
On 22 September 1965, Naib Subedar Krishan Chand made the supreme sacrifice during the operations of 5 JAK Rifles in the Sialkot-Chawinda sector.
