Rifleman Gajender Kaushik of 24 Assam Rifles made the supreme sacrifice on 28 September 2012 while serving in Chandel district of Manipur.

A team of 24 Assam Rifles posted at Kwatha village was moving along the road towards Kwatha village when a series of blasts was triggered at Kwatha Khunou Lamkhai.

Seven bombs had reportedly been planted along the road, exploding in succession at around 1:15 pm. The blasts caused casualties among Assam Rifles personnel and civilians.

Rifleman Gajender Kaushik sustained injuries in the blasts and later succumbed to his injuries, making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

His service and sacrifice remain a part of the proud history of Assam Rifles and its operations in the Northeast.
