A Soldier of the Assam Rifles
Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap served with 33 Assam Rifles. Born on 21 November 1989 and hailing from Balenga Village in Bastar District, Chhattisgarh, he chose a life of service in uniform and served in the Northeast.
He was married to Savitri, and the couple had a daughter, Dhani. His service with 33 Assam Rifles took him to Manipur, where he carried out his duties in a challenging operational environment.
The Nambol Ambush
On 19 September 2025, a column of 33 Assam Rifles was travelling from the Patsoi Company Operating Base in Imphal West towards the Nambol Company Operating Base in Bishnupur District.
At around 5:50 pm, the vehicle carrying the troops came under attack near Nambol Sabal Leikai on National Highway 2. The sudden ambush resulted in intense gunfire, leaving two Assam Rifles personnel martyred and several others injured.
Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap was among the two personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the ambush. He gave his life while serving with 33 Assam Rifles in Manipur.
A Supreme Sacrifice
Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap's final day of service came while his unit was carrying out its duties in Manipur. From Balenga Village in Bastar to the operational environment of the Northeast, his journey reflected a life dedicated to service in uniform.
He made the supreme sacrifice at Nambol on 19 September 2025, leaving behind his family, his comrades and a legacy of service with the Assam Rifles.
