Senior Selection Grade Constable Nisar Ahmad Dhobi of the Jammu and Kashmir Police made the supreme sacrifice on 21 September 2018 after being abducted from his home in Kaprin, Shopian.
Nisar Ahmad Dhobi, 38, was posted at Rajbagh in Srinagar. On the morning of 21 September 2018, terrorists entered Kaprin village and went to his home. He was in the washroom when the armed men entered the house looking for him. After he came out, they told him to get dressed and took him away.
Family members and neighbours followed the abductors and pleaded with them not to take him away. The terrorists fired shots in the air and threatened the villagers before leaving the area with Nisar Ahmad Dhobi. A relative of another police personnel was also abducted during the incident but was later released.
The Supreme Sacrifice at Lamni-Wangam
Nearly half an hour after the abduction, Nisar Ahmad Dhobi and the two other abducted police personnel were taken to an orchard in the Lamni-Wangam area of Shopian. The three were martyred there, and their bodies were later recovered from the orchard.
Nisar Ahmad Dhobi's supreme sacrifice on 21 September 2018 left a lasting mark on his family, colleagues and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He is remembered with honour for his service and devotion to duty.
His service and sacrifice will always be remembered.
