Sepoy Happy Singh was a soldier of The Sikh Light Infantry who made the supreme sacrifice while serving with 19 Rashtriya Rifles during a counter-terrorist operation in Qazigund, Anantnag, on 27 September 2018.
Happy Singh hailed from Ramnagar village in Bathinda district of Punjab. He had joined the Indian Army in 2012 and was serving with 19 Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir.
On 27 September 2018, security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Gazigund area of Anantnag district following information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
During the operation, a gunfight broke out between the security forces and the terrorists. Sepoy Happy Singh, who was part of 19 Rashtriya Rifles, was among the soldiers engaged in the operation.
Happy Singh sustained critical injuries during the exchange of fire and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. He was 24 years old.
