Sub-Inspector Raja Mohammad Saleem of the Jammu & Kashmir Police Special Operations Group made the supreme sacrifice on 25 September 2000 at Kandi in Kupwara district.
Ambushed While Leading a Search Operation
According to a contemporary report, Raja Mohammad Saleem was part of a search party at Kandi when terrorists ambushed the party. The attack claimed his life while he was serving with the Special Operations Group of the Jammu & Kashmir Police.
He is remembered in Bandipora, where his name has also been associated with the Raja Saleem Anwar Memorial Cricket Tournament organised by Bandipora Police.
His courage, service and supreme sacrifice remain part of the proud legacy of the Jammu & Kashmir Police.
