As a Special Police Officer, Ab Rashid Khan served during a particularly challenging period in Jammu and Kashmir, when police personnel routinely faced the threat of terrorism while carrying out their responsibilities and protecting the people.
In 2003, while serving in Anantnag, SPO Ab Rashid Khan made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. His sacrifice became part of the proud and difficult history of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, whose personnel continued to stand firm in the face of grave danger.
His service represents the courage and devotion to duty shown by countless police personnel who served Jammu and Kashmir during years of intense counter-terrorism operations. Their commitment came with immense personal risk, yet they continued to perform their responsibilities in the service of the people.
