SPO Jagdish Raj of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was a member of the force who made the supreme sacrifice in 1999 while serving in the line of duty.
Serving as a Special Police Officer, Jagdish Raj carried the responsibility of supporting the security and policing efforts in Doda, an area that had been deeply affected by terrorism. Like many J&K Police personnel of that era, he served in circumstances that demanded courage, vigilance and an unwavering commitment to duty.
In 1999, Jagdish Raj made the supreme sacrifice while performing his duties in Doda. His sacrifice became part of the long and difficult history of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel who stood between their communities and the threat of terrorism.
