SPO Noor Alam of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was a Special Police Officer from Udhampur who made the supreme sacrifice while confronting terrorists in 2006.
Serving in an area that faced the continuing threat of terrorism, Noor Alam carried out his responsibilities with courage and devotion to duty. His service demanded vigilance and determination in an environment where police personnel could face danger at any moment.
On 14 September 2006, security forces engaged terrorists in an encounter at Lower Ponara in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district. During the fierce exchange of fire, SPO Noor Alam made the supreme sacrifice while serving on the front line of the operation.
Noor Alam was a resident of Ladana in Ramnagar, Udhampur. His sacrifice left a lasting impact on his family and community, while his name continued to be remembered in the area he had served.
His memory was also preserved through the naming of Government Middle School Pangyal after him, ensuring that the name of the Braveheart continues to be associated with the community and future generations.
