For the Gujjar and Bakarwal families living in the remote areas of Mandobal, Kulgam, access to healthcare and veterinary services can often be difficult because of distance and terrain.

On October 3, 34 Rashtriya Rifles organised a medical and veterinary camp at Mandobal Closure Ground, Kulgam, under Operation Sadbhavana, bringing essential services closer to the local community.

The initiative addressed healthcare needs of residents while also providing veterinary assistance for livestock, an important part of the livelihood of many Gujjar and Bakarwal families.

Healthcare Reaches the Community

The medical camp provided local residents an opportunity to access healthcare closer to their homes.

For families living in remote areas, such outreach can reduce the difficulty and expense of travelling long distances for medical assistance.

The camp also created an opportunity for direct interaction between Army personnel and residents, allowing the medical team to engage with members of the community.

Care for Livestock

For the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities of Mandobal, Kulgam, livestock is closely connected with everyday life and livelihood.

Alongside medical assistance for residents, the camp therefore included veterinary services to address the healthcare needs of their animals.

The veterinary outreach brought professional assistance closer to families who depend on their livestock as part of their pastoral and economic life.

Locals Thank the Army

The initiative received appreciation from members of the local community, who thanked 34 Rashtriya Rifles for bringing medical and veterinary services to Mandobal, Kulgam.

ELDERLY LOCAL RESIDENT ABDUL RAZZAK
“We are thankful to the Army for coming here and providing these services to us. It is a great help for people like us.”
LOCAL WOMAN TASLEEMA
“We are very happy that the Army organised this camp here. The medical assistance has been very helpful for our families.”
TEENAGE LOCAL RESIDENT ISHFAQ AHMAD
“It is good to see the Army organising such programmes for the people. We are thankful to them for coming to our area and helping the community.”

The local residents' bytes were recorded during the camp.

Strengthening the Bond

The camp was more than a one-day healthcare activity. It also provided an opportunity for residents and Army personnel to interact directly.

Such community engagement can contribute to stronger civil-military cooperation and create greater familiarity between the Army and people living in remote areas.

Operation Sadbhavana

The camp was organised under Operation Sadbhavana, through which the Indian Army undertakes various community-oriented initiatives in remote and challenging areas.

At Mandobal, Kulgam, the initiative focused on two immediate needs of the community: healthcare for people and veterinary care for their livestock.

A Day of Service

For the Gujjar and Bakarwal families of Mandobal, Kulgam, the camp brought essential services closer to where they live and work.

For 34 Rashtriya Rifles, it was an opportunity to serve the community beyond the conventional duties of the uniform.

Sometimes, meaningful engagement begins with something simple: being there, listening to people and extending a helping hand when it is needed.
