Captain Daljit Singh Jaswal served with 7 Cavalry of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pak War of 1965.

During the operations in the Western Sector, Captain Jaswal took command of a squadron and led his men during intense fighting. On 21 September 1965, his squadron supported an infantry attack on Thatti Jaimal Singh and subsequently held the captured position against repeated enemy counterattacks.

During the fighting, his tank was hit and Captain Jaswal suffered grievous injuries. He was evacuated for medical treatment and continued to remain concerned about the battle and his men.

Captain Daljit Singh Jaswal succumbed to his injuries at the Military Hospital, Delhi Cantonment, at 1145 hours on 6 October 1965.

His leadership and courage during the 1965 war remain part of the proud history of 7 Cavalry. Captain Daljit Singh Jaswal made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
