Constable C. Iliyarajan was serving with 116 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force when he made the supreme sacrifice on 2 October 1999 at Digboi, Assam.
116 Battalion was deployed in Assam to assist with the law and order situation prevailing in the state. On 2 October 1999, a patrol of the battalion, accompanied by civil police personnel, was returning from Pangree Police Station in the Digboi area.
Near Dibrujan village in the Digboi area, the patrol came under a bomb attack by armed attackers. Despite suffering severe injuries, the CRPF personnel fought back and returned fire.
The attackers had intended to seize the weapons carried by the patrol. The determined resistance of the personnel forced them to abandon their plan and flee.
Constable C. Iliyarajan was among the personnel fighting from the front during the fierce exchange of fire. He received severe injuries and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
He made the supreme sacrifice alongside Head Constable Ajay Kumar Tiwari, Constable Jagdish Prasad and Constable K. P. More of 116 Battalion.

Born on 25 March 1969, Constable C. Iliyarajan dedicated his service to the Central Reserve Police Force.
