THE HONOUR POST

Constable Jagdish Prasad was serving with 116 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force when he made the supreme sacrifice on 2 October 1999 at Digboi, Assam.

116 Battalion was deployed in Assam to assist with the law and order situation prevailing in the state. On 2 October 1999, a patrol of the battalion, accompanied by civil police personnel, was returning from Pangree Police Station in the Digboi area.

Near Dibrujan village, the patrol came under a bomb attack by armed attackers. The CRPF personnel were grievously injured but continued to fight and return fire.

The attackers had planned to seize the weapons carried by the patrol. The resistance of the CRPF personnel forced them to abandon their plan and flee from the area.

Constable Jagdish Prasad was fighting from the front during the fierce exchange of fire. He received severe injuries and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

He made the supreme sacrifice alongside Head Constable Ajay Kumar Tiwari, Constable C. Iliyarajan and Constable K. P. More, all of 116 Battalion.

A Life Dedicated to Service

Born on 5 May 1975, Constable Jagdish Prasad dedicated his service to the Central Reserve Police Force.

His sacrifice at Digboi on 2 October 1999 remains part of the history of 116 Battalion and the CRPF's service in Assam.
