Constable K. P. More was serving with 116 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force when he made the supreme sacrifice on 2 October 1999 at Digboi, Assam.
116 Battalion was deployed in Assam to assist with the law and order situation prevailing in the state. On 2 October 1999, a patrol of the battalion, accompanied by civil police personnel, was returning from Pangree Police Station in the Digboi area.
As the patrol reached near Dibrujan village, it came under a bomb attack by armed attackers. The CRPF personnel were grievously injured but fought back and continued to return fire.
The attackers had intended to seize the weapons carried by the patrol. The determined resistance of the personnel forced them to abandon their plan and flee.
Constable K. P. More was fighting from the front during the fierce exchange of fire. He received severe injuries and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
He made the supreme sacrifice alongside Head Constable Ajay Kumar Tiwari, Constable C. Iliyarajan and Constable Jagdish Prasad of 116 Battalion.
A Life Dedicated to Service
Born on 2 June 1951, Constable K. P. More dedicated his service to the Central Reserve Police Force.
His sacrifice at Digboi on 2 October 1999 remains part of the history of 116 Battalion and the CRPF's service in Assam.
