Constable R. M. Perumal of the 42nd Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, made the supreme sacrifice on 13 October 2003 in Tripura during an attack on personnel escorting a civil convoy.
A jeep carrying CRPF personnel on escort duty was struck by an improvised explosive device planted by extremists of the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF). Following the explosion, the attackers opened heavy fire on the troops.
The CRPF personnel retaliated, forcing the attackers to flee the area. Constable Perumal and two colleagues, Constable B. Sree Kumar and Constable K. S. Prakash, attained martyrdom in the incident.
The attack occurred while the personnel were performing their assigned security duties. Constable Perumal's name remains connected with the sacrifice made by the three members of the 42nd Battalion that day.
The Honour Post pays tribute to Constable R. M. Perumal, remembering his service and supreme sacrifice.
