Constable Raj Kumar Sharma served with the 136 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force. He made the supreme sacrifice on 26 October 2006 during a special operation in Jharkhand.

On 26 October 2006, a special operation was planned based on information about a meeting of CPI (Maoist) extremists in the jungles near Kunda and Manatu in Jharkhand.

After completing a day-long march, troops of the 136 Battalion camped overnight at a primary school in Barura Shareef. During the night, the school came under attack from three directions.

Constable Raj Kumar Sharma was struck by gunfire during the attack. Despite sustaining injuries, he continued retaliating alongside his fellow troops as the exchange of fire continued.

The fierce exchange lasted approximately one and a half hours. The extremists eventually left the ground, unable to overcome the resistance put up by the CRPF personnel.

Constable Sharma subsequently succumbed to his injuries. His courage and determination during the attack remain part of the proud record of the Central Reserve Police Force.

The Honour Post pays tribute to Constable Raj Kumar Sharma of the 136 Battalion CRPF, honouring his service and supreme sacrifice in Jharkhand.
