Constable Reji M. of 143 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, made the supreme sacrifice on 3 October 2007 while serving in Manipur.
On that day, troops of 143 Battalion were moving from their battalion headquarters towards their company location to launch an operation when insurgents ambushed them near Keithemnambi village in Senapati district.
The insurgents had selected a tactically advantageous position, giving them dominating ground and several escape routes.
Despite being in a disadvantageous position, the CRPF personnel launched a counter-attack and forced the insurgents to flee from their well-entrenched positions.
Constable Reji M. fought from the front during the counter-attack and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
His name remains among the six 143 Battalion personnel who made the supreme sacrifice during the Keithemnambi ambush.
The Honour Post honours his service and pays tribute to his courage and supreme sacrifice.
