Constable Sadashiv Dalawai of 143 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, made the supreme sacrifice on 3 October 2007 during a counter-insurgency operation in Manipur.
On 3 October 2007, troops of 143 Battalion were proceeding from their battalion headquarters towards their company location when insurgents ambushed them near Keithemnambi village in Senapati district.
The insurgents had positioned themselves at a tactically advantageous location with dominating ground and several escape routes.
Although initially placed at a disadvantage, the CRPF troops counter-attacked with determination and forced the insurgents to flee from their entrenched positions.
Constable Sadashiv Dalawai fought from the front during the counter-attack and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
He is remembered among the six brave personnel of 143 Battalion who made the supreme sacrifice during the Keithemnambi ambush.
