Constable Vadivelu Reddy A. of 143 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, made the supreme sacrifice on 3 October 2007 in Manipur.
On that day, troops of 143 Battalion were moving from their battalion headquarters towards their company location when insurgents launched an ambush near Keithemnambi village in Senapati district.
The ambush was laid from a tactically advantageous position. The insurgents had the benefit of dominating ground and several escape routes.
Despite the difficult position, the CRPF troops responded with a determined counter-attack and forced the insurgents to flee from their entrenched positions.
Constable Vadivelu Reddy A. fought from the front during the counter-attack and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
His name remains among the six 143 Battalion personnel who made the supreme sacrifice during the Keithemnambi ambush.
