Head Constable Abdul Majid of Doda is remembered among the Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel reported to have made the supreme sacrifice on 11 October 2000.
During the night of 9–10 October 2000, police personnel guarding a residence in Drogian, Poonch district, were abducted along with their service weapons and ammunition. Their bodies were later recovered near Chamrare Forest.
The incident remains a reminder of the dangers faced by police personnel carrying out security duties in Jammu and Kashmir. Head Constable Abdul Majid is remembered among the personnel honoured for their service and sacrifice.
