14 October 1995 | A Braveheart of the Border Security Force

Head Constable Krishan Chand of the 54th Battalion, Border Security Force, made the supreme sacrifice on 14 October 1995 in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. Born on 14 December 1951, he served the nation as a member of the force before losing his life in an improvised explosive device blast.

The BSF's memorial tribute records that Head Constable Krishan Chand and Constable/Driver Mohd O U sustained fatal injuries in the blast triggered by terrorists in the Kupwara area. Both personnel made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The incident reflects the dangers faced by security personnel serving in areas where explosive attacks threaten those carrying out their responsibilities. Such attacks can turn a duty assignment into a life-threatening situation, leaving little time for personnel to protect themselves.

Head Constable Krishan Chand's sacrifice is preserved in the Border Security Force's roll of honour. His name, rank, battalion and date of martyrdom form part of the force's record of personnel who gave their lives in service. His story is also remembered alongside Constable/Driver Mohd O U, who made the supreme sacrifice in the same incident.

Head Constable Krishan Chand, The Honour Post salutes your service and pays tribute to your supreme sacrifice.
