On 14 October 1997, the 67th Battalion of the CRPF was conducting counter-insurgency operations in Manipur when its personnel encountered insurgents at Bishnupur.
During the fierce exchange of fire, Head Constable Ram Prakash advanced towards the insurgents and launched an assault. He sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to them, making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
