Head Constable Meena was serving at Border Outpost Chinaj when the post came under fire. He made the supreme sacrifice during the incident. Reports of the wider firing described other BSF personnel being injured as the exchanges continued across the border.

The incident took place during a period of heightened tension, when repeated firing and shelling placed security personnel and residents of border villages at risk.
