Inspector Koushal Kumar Mishra of the Central Reserve Police Force's 60th Battalion made the supreme sacrifice on 30 October 2025 after sustaining critical injuries during an anti-Maoist operation in Jharkhand. Hailing from Bihar, he was serving with a formation deployed in the West Singhbhum district.
On 10 October 2025, personnel of the 60th Battalion were deployed along the Babudera-Radhapora axis as part of an operation in the forested region. During the operation, an improvised explosive device detonated, seriously injuring Inspector Mishra. He was immediately provided first aid and evacuated to Apollo Hospital in Rourkela, Odisha, for medical treatment.
As his condition required specialised care, Inspector Mishra was airlifted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre in New Delhi on 11 October. Medical teams continued treating him, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on 30 October 2025, twenty days after the blast.
Inspector Mishra's sacrifice reflects the grave risks faced by personnel operating in areas affected by Maoist violence, where improvised explosive devices remain a serious threat. His service with the 60th Battalion and his commitment to duty are part of the story of a CRPF officer who continued to serve in a demanding operational environment.
The Honour Post pays tribute to Inspector Koushal Kumar Mishra with deep respect and gratitude. His supreme sacrifice is remembered as a testament to his service to the nation and the courage of those who undertake difficult duties to protect others.
