Sepoy Brajesh Kumar of the Punjab Regiment, serving with the 22nd Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles, made the supreme sacrifice on 26 October 2018 during an operation against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the operation, a terrorist attempted to approach a buddy pair, placing the soldiers in immediate danger. Sepoy Brajesh Kumar moved into the open and engaged the terrorist, inflicting serious injuries before repositioning himself to block the terrorist's escape.
