Sepoy E. Balaji served in the Indian Army and was one of two Army personnel aboard an Indian Air Force Mi-17 V5 helicopter on 6 October 2017.
The helicopter was undertaking an air maintenance sortie to deliver supplies to a forward Army post in the difficult mountainous terrain near Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.
The aircraft crashed near the dropping zone. The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the two Army personnel aboard, Sepoy E. Balaji and Sepoy H. N. Deka, sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
Sepoy E. Balaji made the supreme sacrifice on 6 October 2017 while supporting the Indian Army's forward deployment in Arunachal Pradesh.
