Shopian Police organised a debate competition at Government Higher Secondary School, Imamsahib, on October 24, bringing students together to reflect on the contribution of police personnel to nation building and remember those who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

The programme was organised as part of the ongoing observance of Police Commemoration Day, Police Flag Day and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2026. The debate, held on the theme “Role of Police and Martyrs in Nation Building,” was presided over by DySP PC Imamsahib.

Students Reflect on the Role of Police

Students participated enthusiastically, presenting their views on the responsibilities of the police in maintaining law and order, protecting public safety and preserving peace. Their contributions also highlighted the importance of national unity and integrity in building a secure and cohesive society.

The participants paid tribute to police martyrs, recalling their courage, dedication and commitment to serving the nation. The discussion provided students with an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by uniformed personnel and the responsibilities associated with public service.

Encouraging Young Voices

At the conclusion of the competition, prizes were distributed among participants in recognition of their performance. The initiative also encouraged students to take part in educational activities that promote patriotism, discipline and awareness of their role in society.

By engaging students in a discussion on nation building and remembering fallen personnel, Shopian Police used the occasion to bring the values of service, sacrifice and national unity into the classroom.

The programme formed part of the district-wide activities marking the commemorative observances, with the aim of keeping the memory of police martyrs alive while encouraging the younger generation to understand the importance of duty, public service and national integrity.
